Back to the PNW.

After 20 years in NYC, my next chapter has begun in Portland, OR.

I love Linda Ronstadt, old fashioned glazed donuts, dry roasted peanuts, and cats in stores*.

*Especially fond of my two black kitties, Fernando and Chiquitita.

NICHOLAS WILLIAMS is an aspiring software engineer currently working as a research associate with Opus Partners, an executive search firm specializing in recruiting for higher education. After spending 20 years on faculty at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn teaching music to K12 students, he followed an impulse to make some life changes, prompting a move back west to Portland, OR. Subsequently completing a full-stack engineering course with General Assembly, he’s excited to find himself immersed in the new passion he’s found in tech and software development.

As composer/lyricist, pianist, and teacher he most recently wrote music, lyrics, and orchestrations for the puppet musical adventure Riddle of the Trilobites which finished a successful pre-pandemic run at the New Victory Theatre following its world premiere at Flint Repertory Theatre. Nicholas has written and collaborated with Ana Gasteyer on her cabaret performances and recordings, co-writing two tunes, (including the title track) on Ana’s Christmas album Sugar and Booze (2019). For many years he wrote and performed with Micah Bucey as one half of the semi-defunct musical theater power pop duo, The Gay Agenda (Ars Nova, Joe’s Pub, Judson Church, Berkshire Fringe, About Face in Chicago and many others). He and Micah also wrote the musical Open Season with Bill Cain (Lake George Theater Lab, Hartford Stage). Other projects include scoring Brecht’s Caucasian Chalk Circle (PPAS/Waterwell, dir. Lee Sunday Evans), Mutant Water Babies (Drexel Univ, Judson’s Magic Time), Streepshow! (Connelly Theatre, Dixon Place, Ars Nova), Amanda Duarte’s Staying Alive (Joe’s Pub), and annually in Isaac Oliver’s Lonely Christmas (Ars Nova). His choral music has been premiered/performed by Choral Chameleon, Grace Chorale of Brooklyn, and the Empire City Men’s Chorus. Nicholas studied music and theatre arts at the University of Puget Sound (BA) and piano performance at Hunter College (MA).
